In 1953
Oliver Kinzie bought a restaurant on a whim. He was the owner/operator of Kinzie’s Dairy in Cushing, Oklahoma. While delivering his soft-serve ice cream mix to Dairy Hut in Cushing, the owner of the Dairy Hut said “Why don’t you buy this place.” Oliver went home, discussed it with his wife, Phyllis, and the rest is history. Oliver Kinzie had just entered into the restaurant business.
Homestead Family Restaurant
The Dairy Hut has changed throughout the years and is now named the “Homestead Family Restaurant”. After several years under his belt in the restaurant business and three Dairy Huts later, Oliver and Phyllis were ready to open another restaurant they would call “Steer Inn Restaurant”. In 1969, Steer Inn Restaurant was born offering a sit-down dining room with telephones at tables for ordering your meal.

Steer Inn Restaurant is still going strong today with the original location in Cushing and a location in Mannford, Oklahoma on Lake Keystone. Oliver’s family still operates the restaurants today with the 2nd and 3rd generation at the helm. We pride ourselves in preparing our food with quality ingredients and customer service we are known for. Whether you enjoy our food at the Steer Inn, breakfast at the Homestead, take-out, or a catered event, we are thankful for your patronage and look forward to serving you for many more years to come.

Our famous lunch buffet. Hand-Carved Meats, Fried Chicken, Fried Catfish, and Jalapeño Chicken. Includes our Salad Bar and Dessert Bar, and Ice Cream.
DINNER BUFFET
Friday: 5:00 - 8:00 pm
Prime Rib - Famous Hand-Carved Prime Rib with Buffet. Includes Salad Bar, Dessert Bar and Ice Cream.
Saturday: 5:00 - 8:00 pm
BBQ Buffet - Smoked Ribs and Hand-Carved Meats. Includes Salad Bar, Dessert Bar and Ice Cream.
